Planning your day
Capacity, catering, weather, and the practical rest.
How many guests can Thistledown hold?
The great hall seats 200 for dinner and dancing, or 250 for a standing reception. The ceremony meadow comfortably holds 250 chairs, and micro-weddings of under 30 use the orchard clearing.
Do you have in-house catering?
No — and that's by design. Our commercial-spec catering kitchen welcomes any licensed and insured caterer, and we keep a short list of six Hudson Valley favorites who know the barn inside out.
What's the rain plan?
Every booking includes an automatic weather plan: ceremonies move under the great hall's beams with the glass wall as your backdrop, and cocktail hour shifts to the stone hall. We make the call together by 10am, no fees, no stress.
Can we bring our own vendors?
Yes. Outside vendors are welcome with proof of insurance. Amplified music runs until 11pm outdoors and midnight inside, and our event manager coordinates load-in with every vendor the week of.
Is there lodging nearby?
The farmhouse next door sleeps eight and can be added to any wedding weekend. Rhinebeck village, ten minutes away, has inns and hotels for every budget, and we provide a guest lodging sheet with room blocks.
