Product designer
I design product interfaces that stop needing explanation — research, flows, UI, and the design system that keeps it coherent. Eight years, forty products, still obsessed.

Engagements
Fixed scope, fixed price, and daily conversation while it's live.
One critical flow — onboarding, checkout, the scary settings page — researched, redesigned, and prototyped in two weeks.
From research to shipped screens for a new product or major feature: flows, UI, states, and handoff your engineers will thank you for.
A component library with rules, tokens, and documentation — built to survive real teams, real deadlines, and the next rebrand.
A few hours a month for teams that have designers but want senior eyes — critique, hiring help, and roadmap sanity checks.
About me
I came to design from customer support, which is the best design school nobody applies to: two years of watching real people get lost taught me more than any portfolio course. Eight years later I've designed onboarding that doubled activation, rebuilt a trading interface trusted with real money, and shipped design systems that outlived three rebrands.
I work in focused engagements with founders and product teams — usually four to eight weeks, always hands-on. You get the research, the flows, the screens, and the Figma structure your team can actually maintain. What you don't get: a deck about design thinking, or a junior doing the work after the kickoff call.
Process
The same rhythm whether it's two weeks or two months.
Interviews, session recordings, support tickets — the problem in your users' own words before anyone opens a design tool.
One page we agree on: who it's for, what success looks like, what we're explicitly not doing.
Flows to rough screens to tested prototypes, shared as they happen — you see thinking, not reveals.
Every state designed, files organized, and a recorded walkthrough — then I stay reachable while it ships.
Kind words
“Amara redesigned our onboarding in a two-week sprint. Activation went from 31% to 58% and stayed there. Easiest design money we ever spent.”
“She asks the questions we'd been avoiding for a year, then designs the answer. Our engineers still use her handoff files as the reference for how it should be done.”
“The design system paid for itself in a quarter — new screens went from days of debate to hours of assembly.”
FAQ
Fixed scope, fixed price, written down before we start. Sprints run two weeks; full product work four to eight. We talk every day it's active — no black-box design.
They're half my practice. Pre-product-market-fit teams usually start with a sprint — enough design to learn, not so much you're polishing the wrong thing.
Working prototypes, organized Figma files, every state designed (loading, empty, error — the ones that get skipped), and a recorded walkthrough for the people who weren't in the room.
Only alongside product work — a landing page that matches the product, yes; a full brand identity, no. I'll happily introduce you to people who live for that.
